Black and White Stripes at the Sunflower Farm

Hey, hi, hello!

It's been a hot minute since I looked at the blog. To quickly catch everyone up, we moved across the country from Arizona to Georgia over the summer.

One of the most fun things about moving to the South has been the Fall festivities. There are dozens of festivals every weekend, the leaves are starting to change colors, and the pumpkin patches here are SO much bigger than anything we're used to!

Last weekend we drove to a sunflower farm! They are only open for about a month, she the flowers are still in bloom. The sunflowers were so beautifully vibrant! It was a pretty gray and dreary day when we visited, and for some reason I thought the flowers might look a little dull, but they popped against the gray skies and were positively gorgeous!

I wore this black and white striped dress from Target a couple of years ago, a new tan cardigan from Old Navy, and this hat I bought from Nordstrom after Christmas last year. I hadn't worn it yet because I felt a little out of place with it in AZ, but I love it!

Last night for dinner, I made some Coconut Green Curry Lentils. They don't exactly look appetizing in my quick picture of them, but it is pretty tasty and what I'll be nomming on for lunch all week. :)

This morning I completed the second week of Bender Fitness' Postpartum & Beyond: 6-Week Workout Challenge. Yes, I'm already 14 months postpartum, but better late than never right? ;) I've honestly started this program a handful of times in the past, but this is the first time I've actually completed the second week. Whoop whoop!

Have a great week, and thank you so much for reading!!

Bubblegum

I was perusing "New Arrivals" at J Crew and found this look. . .I am SO obsessed with it! I would look like a giant piece of bubblegum if I tried to pull it off though ;)

This week was a long one, and I am so glad it's the weekend!!

Easter 2017

Happy Easter!

This weekend has gone by so slowly, and I mean that in the best possible way. Lincoln waking up at 5AM on the weekends makes the days seem soooo much longer.

We didn't have any plans this weekend. Yesterday, we browsed around At Home for decor inspiration, and I did some online shopping. I bought a pair of wedges, 3 tops and a pair of earrings for under $100 (if you don't count shipping :P)! I am excited to receive some new items to style for spring. Then last night Michael and I made kabobs for dinner. Neither of us had made them before, and it was so much fun! :) After dinner, we watched a couple of episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Michael and I started watching it on Netflix a year and a half ago and have slowly been making our way through the seasons. We finally got caught up to the current season, so now we're watching it on Hulu haha

Today is Easter! We were planning to go to church this morning, but Lincoln was super grumpy all morning -- we think he is teething again. I went to church by myself, and then my dad came over to our house for a little while. Michael and I made dinner together - ham, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls. We were trying to keep it traditional even thought it was the just the two of us haha. Right now Michael is trying to get some stains out of my red Michael Kors bag. I have no idea what I spilled on my purse, but it looks like splashes of white out :( He bought some leather cleaner for my "Easter basket", and I am hoping it will clean up my bag without leaving any weird stains.

Here's to another week!

Hula's Modern Tiki

Tonight, I met my friend Sarah for dinner at Hula's Modern Tiki. It was so fun! The restaurant is Hawaiian themed (if the name doesn't make that obvious haha). I haven't traveled much lately, so it was nice to pretend to get away, even for a few hours. ;)

I ate Hawaiian Lobster Bisque and Crispy Coconut Shrimp Rolls that came with a delicious pineapple horseradish sauce - yum!

We thought we might do a little bit of shopping after dinner, but somehow we had been talking at our table for a full 3 hours before we realized what time it was! That tends to happen whenever we get together. :)

Chips & Salsa Diet

Some days you are gung-ho about losing the baby weight. Other days, your hubby experiments in the kitchen and makes hamburgers stuffed with jalapenos and cream cheese. Today was a burger-stuffed-with-cheesy-goodness day.

I was perusing the Shopbop sale and found this cute pink sweatshirt. I live off of chips and salsa, so I showed it to Michael saying I want it! His only response was "How can something so simple be so expensive?" #storyofmylife

Spring Pinks

Hi there! :) It's been a fun couple of days. I am loving this Spring weather!

On Sunday, we drove about 2 hours North East of us to spend the day near Payson! More specifically, we went to Bear Flat, AZ - population 18 people. (Google it.) Michael carried Lincoln in our Bjorn Baby Carrier, and we hiked along Tonto Creek. This was my first time here, and I was surprised to find there wasn't actually a trail. It was more like Michael leading me as we navigated our way over/around big rocks. It made me nervous to have Lincoln with us, but Michael carried him like a pro! There wasn't any shade where we stopped, so Michael built us a mini-fort out of tree branches, and Lincoln was having a blast being outside. He loved watching the flowing water, and was fascinated feeling the smooth boulders and gravelly dirt. He would stick out his pointer finger and gently scratch at the surfaces - it was the cutest thing! By some miracle, he fell asleep on the bouncy hike back to the car.

Yesterday after work, Michael suggested we try out this pizza place he really wanted to try - Jet's Pizza. It's about 30 minutes away, and it's out of our norm to travel this far during a weeknight but I said let's go for it! When we got there, we discovered that the pizza place was take-out only. It is not actually a restaurant you can eat at. hahaha We sat on a bench near the counter for 20 minutes for our pizza. Once we got our pizza, we were both SO hungry and didn't want to drive all the way home and let the pizza get cold, so I suggested we eat it at a nearby park. Luckily, we still had a blanket in the car from our Payson trip, so we sat on the blanket while Lincoln rolled around and played as we watched the sunset. It was completely unexpected, and SO much fun - I love it when that happens! :D
On a different note, here's a collection of spring accessories I've had my eye on lately! Clearly, I have a thing for pinks! ;)

Our Roadtrip from Phoenix to Portland - Part 3

Heyooooo!

Tonight I wanted to wrap up the rest of the pictures of our road trip to Portland (after scarfing down a triple-chocolate muffin from Costco, of course)!

Day 7
I was definitely sad to be leaving Portland so soon, but I was excited to be visiting the beautiful Crater Lake on our way home! As we got closer to the lake, we discovered that due to a forest fire, the North entrance to the lake was completely closed. If we wanted to see the lake, we would have to enter from the South entrance--adding 2 hours to our planned 10 hours of driving. Michael asked what I wanted to do, but he already knew I really wanted to see Crater Lake. We had come all this way! He wanted to see it took, so we took the detour and I am so glad we did! Crater Lake is gorgeous. Its water is the most beautiful, brilliant shade of blue I have ever seen in my life. We learned that the water is also some of the cleanest water in the entire world!

We didn't get to stay very long, but I'm glad we got to see it at all! Soon we were back on the road and headed to Lake Tahoe! We arrived in South Lake Tahoe when it was already dark out, but got to explore the area the next morning. Two lakes in two days -- woohoo! :)

Day 8
Lake Tahoe was even bigger than either of us expected, and we both want to go back and spend a few days there. Camping, boating, paddle boarding, hiking. . .there is just so much to do there!! We only had a couple of hours, so we spent it near Emerald Bay.

After lunch, we were headed to Tonopah, NV. Tonopah is an old, tiny mining town and let's just say there's not a whole lot to do :) That was fine though, because we were absolutely exhausted and didn't feel like doing anything anyway! We dragged ourselves down to the restaurant downstairs for dinner (Michael had French Toast, and I had ice cream :P), and then crawled into bed and watched Hitch. We stayed at the "Tonopah Station", and they had some eclectic decor.

Dinner of champions.

Day 9
The last day of our trip! Where did our vacation go?? This was probably our roughest day of driving because we just wanted to be home. We had planned our route to go through Las Vegas and over the Hoover Dam in case we wanted to stop, but neither of us wanted to so we just drove straight through. Once we crossed the state line into Arizona, we encountered some crazy storms! It was pretty strange that during our entire trip through the Pacific Northwest, the only time we got a drop of rain was in Arizona of all places haha I'm not complaining! :) After what felt like forever, we were back home and reunited with our pups and everything was right with the world. :)
I am the worst copilot. I give wrong directions even when I'm holding the GPS in my hands. :P After 3,470 miles of dealing with my wrong turns, this guy didn't once get mad at me for it. In fact, he kept me laughing the whole entire way. There's no one else on the planet I'd rather explore the PNW with. <3
